2 J&K Girls Battalion GDC Udhampur Organises Blood Donation Camp, Poster Making on International Blood Donors Day Udhampur 14/06/2023: In continuation of programs on Azadi Ka Amrut Kaal during the time of G20 presidency of India, and to make a loud message for College and the Youth against Drugs under Nashamukt Campus for Nashamukt Bharat Abhiyaan, as well as FIT India on International Blood Donor Day, a blood donation camp was organized by 2 JK Girls Bn GDC Udhampur in collaboration with Command Hospital (Northern Command) Udhampur in coordination with 2 J&K Boys Bn and Red Ribbon Club (RRC) of the College, to commemorate World Blood Donor Day under the Patronage of Principal Prof. Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta and Guidance of Colonel Surinder Singh, Commanding Officer 2 J&K Girls Battalion. The camp was conducted at Command Hospital Northern Command premises CH (NC) from 0900 hrs to 1600 hrs. About 37 blood volunteers of GDC, Udhampur were the contingent was flagged off from the college by the Principal in two batches. The camp saw a good turnout with 30 volunteers donating blood and the rest were empanelled with the Command Blood Centre for future donation as per requirement The aim of the blood donation camp was to highlight this year’s World Blood donor day campaign with the theme ‘Give blood, give plasma, share life, share often’ and encourage voluntary blood donation. The camp was inaugurated by Maj Gen Avinash Das, Comdt, CH (NC) along with Brig S. K. Kaushik, Dy Comdt, CH (NC) and Brig M. K. Sebastian, PM, CH (NC). They were welcomed by Lt Col. Harleen Chopra, Offg HOD, Dept of Lab. Sciences and Molecular Diagnostics followed by an introduction parade of the cadets and a brief tour of camp arrangements by Maj Prachi Nichat, OIC Blood Centre As part of the donor day campaign, a slogan writing competition was also conducted. Thirteen participants displayed their slogan posters at the camp site which was judged by LT Col Harleen kour and Major Prachi, where in cadet Vinay Kumar got the first prize. The second prize was bagged by cadet Bhawani and the third prize was bagged by cadet Reeta Devi. All other participants of slogan writing got consolation prize. The prize winning cadets were felicitated by the Chief Guest, who congratulated the voluntary donors and motivated others to follow suit with his inspiring words and warm gestures. He emphasized the need for blood donation, who all can donate blood and health benefits of blood donation. Later the Principal of the College Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta distributed blood donation certificate to the blood donors and also appreciated the Cadets, ex-cadets and the members of the college Red Ribbon club for making their commitment to donate blood and become the life savers. He also advised to the young donors to propagate the message among the masses regarding the voluntarily blood donation and its importance. He told all, that The Blood donor Day is celebrated annually on June 14 to express gratitude for the selflessness of voluntarily Blood Donors across the world. He congratulated the coordinators Prof. (Captain) Shivani Sharma, Associate NCC Officer and Prof Jawaid Sarver Convener, Red Ribbon Club GDC Udhampur for successful conduct this blood donation camp. The function concluded with the vote of thanks by Prof. Jawaid Sarver.
